What would you want for your child, a great career or a balanced life?
2010.04.13 11:20:44
What would you want for your child, a great career or a balanced life?

At the outset, the question itself is wrong because there is no comparison between balanced life and career. A person having a great career can have balanced life without losing a great career. Similarly, a person, who has a balanced life, who can still have a great career or not. What is required is a very clear focus on what one wants to do in life, when to do it, how to do it and how to sustain it. In all these stages, the person should look at life with equanimity. In such a case the person is not disturbed with failure or overjoyed with success. This balanced act is required in every phase of life, every act and every moment. So whatever be the career, the fundamental attitude should be of a balanced behavior.

Are we producing violent children because of films, TV, media and video games, or because we spend less time with them?

Are we producing violent children because of films, TV, media and video games, or because we spend less time with them?

Violence is born in the mind .No one can produce violence in anyone else’s mind unless the individual chooses to be breed it in. Film, TV, media, videogames, etc do not necessarily show up violence always. Sometimes they are informative too. What to take and leave is in itself an education and the home and school have to share the responsibility here. Yes, there can certainly be some degree of influence on children. But if the upbringing of the children from the child hood days is a carefully nurtured one, then no influence will harm the child. Working parents tend to lose out on inculcating values in their children due to lack of time. According to me, children cannot be taught values, values have to be caught which indirectly implies that there is quite a lot that depends on adults and their behavior at home. There is no connection between spending more time with children and learning of values. Children look at parents and grandparents to learn values. Children have a basic inherent tendency to pick-up words, phrases, behavior models very quickly. If the parents and grandparents wish to see values in children, better they behave like that and display them at home.

1.What do you mean by an all-round education for your child?
2010.02.27 07:00:10

"What do you mean by an all-round education for your child? Is there really a definition?"

Education itself is an all-round development, so saying again the all-round education is a tautology. According to me, the purpose of education is to bring out inner excellence of every child. This involves development of body, mind and soul. Sometimes, schools and colleges lose out on some particular aspects of the developments and concentrate on measurable goals, leaving those aspects of developments which are not measurable by common standards to destiny. As a result of this, education today is reduced to academic results and procuring a well paid job. In today’s context therefore all-round development of education means bringing back those lost aspects of education- bringing out the human excellence.

IFF is an international standard residential co-ed school with proposed affiliation with ICSE. It has been promoted by the Bhanushali family, to look beyond regional boundaries and to “Think Indian, Act Global”. It is driven by the concept of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (Entire world as one family) to spread the universal values of Love, Truth, Tolerance, so children can learn to live and let live.

What is humanness?

True human beings do not have the " Bedhbhav"-meaning difference between any creation. He believes that the true spirit is with in every one and there is no difference in that. The shape of the body may differ, color may differ, but the spirit with in which governs the mind is one and the same. If only we realize this and make our children also realize, then tomorrows world would be a better place to live in . India First Foundation School wants to just do that.

For that we ourselves should be like that. We shall be !
